Families of Victims: Stop The Pain

Families came together Saturday at a vigil on the campus of the University of Hartford to remember domestic violence victims. One of those victim's is 25-year-old Tiana Notice. Her ex-boyfriend 28 year old James Carter III is charged with stabbing her to death on Valentine's Day.

"It helps me in my healing process.. it really truly does because it helps me realize that there are people that care that want to hear the story," says Tiana's father, Alvin Notice.

25 year old Tiana notice is one of the many faces of domestic violence. It's been a month of mourning for Tiana's parents. Now they're on a mission to prevent abuse. This vigil, organized by the Delta Sigma Theta sorority, gets them a little closer to that goal.

"That's why I brought her ashesso that the girls can see the pain and where people end up when they stay in horrible relationships. Seek help and help is not giventhe price to pay is way too costly," says Kathy Lewis, Tiana's mother.

Her father says by coming out to the vigil he can explain what happened to Tiana and hopes to save at least one life in that way.

Close to 100 people braved the cold for an hour to hold a candle in the name of victims.
