Fatal Crash in Middletown

A 20-year-old Meriden man was killed.

A Meriden man was killed when a car and a pickup collided head-on in Middletown.

The vehicles collided as Jedidiah Roesler, 22, of Meriden, was driving a 2002 Honda Civil northbound on South Main Street and attempting to make a left turn onto Highland Avenue and a 2008 Ford F350 driven by Stephen Tyrseck, 36, of Durham, was approaching Highland Avenue from the southbound side of South Main Street, police said.

Alexander Martinez, 20, of Meriden, who was traveling in Roesler's vehicle, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Three others also traveling in Roesler's car were taken to Hartford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There is no word yet on the extent of their injuries.

Tyrseck was not seriously injured. 

Neighbors said the intersection has been a problem for years.
