Farmington police have charged a 29-year-old father with assault after his 7-week-old baby suffered several bone fractures.
Police said the child was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and the parents were not able to explain the fractures.
Staff from Connecticut Children’s contacted the state Department of Children and Families, which contacted local authorities.
Farmington detectives are investigating and obtained an arrest warrant for the child's father, Morsy Elzawaway.
Elzawawy was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a minor.
He was taken into custody on the warrant, posted the $250,000 court-set bond and he is due in court this morning.
The child and a sibling have been removed from the home as police continue to investigate.
