Animal control is urging dog owners to keep pets on a leash while hiking after a fawn was attacked in Guilford.
Police said they found the baby animal in the Timberlands trails.
Her front leg was injured, she appeared to have internal injuries and she couldn’t get up properly, according to the Guilford Police Animal Shelter.
Police believe a dog attacked the fawn.
They said removing a fawn from the wild is the last thing they wanted to do, but that’s what they decided to do after consulting with a rehabilitator and determining that the fawn needed medical attention.
She was then taken to a local veterinary hospital that treats wildlife.
