Fetus Found at Stamford Sewage Treatment Plant

A fetus was found at the sewage treatment facility on Harbor View Drive in Stamford over the weekend, according to police.

Police said a machine operator at the Stamford Water Pollution Control Authority found the body around 4 p.m. on Sunday and the man’s shift foreman called authorities.

Police and the state medical examiner responded to the scene to investigate. Police said the fetus was not viable and had most likely been miscarried.

Officials said on Wednesday the plant services Greenwich, Stamford and Darien and that the mother might have flushed the fetus down the toilet in any of those three towns.
