    Several Puppies Rescued from Killingly Fire

    These puppies were rescued from a house fire in Killingly.

    Four dogs were rescued from a two-alarm fire at 19 Squaw Rock Road in Killingly early Wednesday morning.

    Firefighters responded around 5 a.m. after someone who was passing by reported the fire, according to fire officials.

    The house was engulfed when firefighters arrived and the house is believed to be a total loss.

    The homeowner was not home at the time, but is in the process of moving to a smaller home and had finished packing, officials said.

    The homeowner picked them up and took them to his new house, officials said. Some cats are unaccounted for.

    The Red Cross is helping three adults and a child because of the fire.
