Fire from a stove spread to a second-floor apartment at 4 Vine Street in Hartford on Tuesday morning, according to the fire department.
Firefighters said the sprinkler system activated and kept flames from spreading beyond the kitchen. No one was hurt and the fire department left the scene after 30 minutes.
Kitchen cabinets sustained moderate smoke and water damage.
Fire officials said the residents, of family of one adult and three children, was moved to another unit in the complex while repairs get underway.
