Fire Destroys Southbury Home

A home on Bagley Road in Southbury sustained heavy damage after fire ripped through the house Friday afternoon, according to the fire department.

Crews were called to 261 Bagley Road around 1:30 p.m. Friday. Southbury Fire Capt. Jason Decremer said the fire was under control by about 3:40 p.m.

The home suffered "substantial damage," and medical personnel were called to the scene to help keep firefighters safe in the bitter cold, according to Decremer.

Mutual aid was called in from Newtown and Oxford. Officials with the Oxford Fire Department said they sent a tanker, a rescue and an engine.

No one was hurt in the fire.
