Firefighters Rescue Boaters Lost in Fog

Two men and a woman from Massachusetts are safe after getting lost in their boat when fog rolled in on the Old Lyme Shore on Wednesday night.

The three Massachusetts residents took a 12-foot aluminum rowboat out on the Connecticut River to fish before the fog rolled in, according to the Old Saybrook Fire Department. They did not have navigation aids or a marine radio and became disoriented in the fog.

The Coast Guard called Old Saybrook Firefighters just after 11 p.m., who rescued the boaters.

The woman told firefighters she thought that they were going to die out there, firefighters said.
