First Weekend of Summer Brings Heavy Downpours, Abundant Sunshine

The summer season is officially here. After a gloomy and showery week, NBC Connecticut First Alert meteorologists are expecting a much nicer first weekend of summer.

As expected, localized heavy downpours have developed across the state as a disturbance moves through.

Some showers have brief heavy rain, small hail and wind gusts over 30 mph. The showers will begin to diminish toward evening.

Skies will clear overnight Saturday and leave us with a fantastic first Sunday of summer.

Expect sunshine on Sunday with highs in the lower to middle 80s.

The extended outlook shows summer warmth for the week ahead with building humidity toward the end of the week.
