Authorities Monday identified the man who died while fishing at Squantz Pond in New Fairfield.
Antonio Framco, 21, of Albertson, New York, was fishing with friends along the western grove shoreline Sunday around 11: 20 a.m. when he suddenly fell into the water, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
New Fairfield First Selectman John Hodge said Framco stood up and fell forward into the water and was immediately pulled out by friends nearby.
Lifeguards and paramedics began CPR on the Framco, before taking him to Danbury Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
DEEP EnCon officers are investigating the apparent drowning.
