Five Injured in Serious Crash

Five people were injured in a serious crash late last night in Middletown.

Police responded to a serious accident around 11:45 p.m. on Route 66 at the intersection of Old Mill Road.

According to police, Holden Andeen, 21 of Higganum, was driving west on Route 66 and Joseph Durkin, 19 of Middletown was traveling east on Route 66.

Durkin crossed the centerline and collided head on with Andeen, causing his Chevrolet Silverado to roll onto its side.

Andeen and a passenger, Cameron Bailey, 21, of Haddam, were extricated and transported to Hartford area hospitals with serious injuries.

Durkin along with two passengers, Andre Bonvouloir, 19, of Middletown, and Danielle Whalen,18, of Middletown were also injured in the crash.

Durkin and Whalen were transported to the hospital with apparent serious injuries.

Bonvouloir was transported to Hartford Hospital by Life Star with serious injuries.

Route 66 between Old Mill Road and Boston Road was closed for approximately six hours for the investigation and roadway clean up.
