Five People Taken To The Hospital For CO Poisoning

A New Haven apartment building had to be evacuated Saturday night after four adults and one child were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

911 dispatchers received two calls from a family inside of 9 Dediego Court saying everyone in the household were feeling ill.

According to the New Haven Fire Department, firefighters who arrived at the scene detected CO readings of upward to 1000 parts per million.

All 12 apartments in the building had to be evacuated while the Southern Connecticut Gas Company and firefighters checked the meters before allowing residents to re-enter the building.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause.
