Foodshare Still Needs 8,000 Turkeys

Foodshare still needs more than 8,000 turkeys to reach its goal for the Turkey and Thirty Thanksgiving appeal.

On Sunday, a record was set when Foodshare received 2,421 donated turkeys, but they still need 8,327 on Monday to reach the goal of 19,000.

Turkeys will be distributed to food pantries on Monday and Tuesday.

Last year at this time, Foodshare had 3,000 more turkey donations than they do now.

Foodhshare has appointments on Monday and Tuesday to distribute the remaining turkeys to local pantries, but they said they do not yet have them in the building.

While donations are lower than expected, calls are still coming in from people who missed the sign-up deadline but are now asking if they can get a turkey.

A donation of a turkey and $30 will provide someone in need with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and an entire month of healthy, nutritious meals, according to Foodshare.

You can reach Foodshare at 860-286-9999.
