Help Available After Foreclosures

Federal help is available for cities and towns with foreclosed homes.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell is releasing $25 million dollars to some Connecticut cities to help them survive the current economic upheaval. The federal funds come from the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008. It provides emergency grants to states and some cities to buy foreclosed homes. They can then rehabilitate, resell or redevelop those homes to stabilize neighborhoods and assure surrounding homes maintain their value.

The cities on the list are Bridgeport, Hartford, Meriden, New Britain, New Haven, Stamford and Waterbury.
