Former Cop Found Dead in Bridgeport

Kenneth Console's body was not removed from the scene for several hours.

The body of a former New Haven police officer was found on a Bridgeport street from an apparent gunshot wound.

Residents reported hearing gunshots around 3 a.m. on Thursday and Kenneth Console, 42, was discovered.

His body was not removed from the scene for several hours, in view of passing neighbors and school children.

The Connecticut Post reports that Judicial Department records show Console had a history of arrests and convictions, including larceny charges, allegations he violated home improvement contract regulations in his work as a carpenter and failure to make restitution to homeowners.

New Haven police said Console had not been a New Haven police officer since 2003. He entered the police academy on Jan. 24, 1992, and he "resigned" on April 30, 2003, taking advantage of an "early incentive buy out," according to police.
