Garbage Truck Hit Sanitation Worker: Cops

The worker's injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

A sanitation worker was taken to the hospital on Wednesday morning after he was hit in the leg by a garbage truck.

David Douglas, 52, of West Haven was backing up a garbage truck for Trash Master LLC on Mulberry and Bayberry lanes in Shelton around 8 a.m. and hit John Glacia, 31, of New Haven, in the leg and he fell to the ground, police said.

Glacia was conscious and alert while at the scene with police and EMS and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police said no enforcement action has been taken.
