Gas Leak Closes Roads in Naugatuck

An underground gas leak caused a road closure in Naugatuck Friday.

According to police, the leak was detected under the intersection of Rubber Avenue and Hoadley Street around 1 p.m.  The gas has been shut off in the area, but crews will have to dig up the intersection to repair the leak.

Hoadley Street is expected to be closed between Rubber Avenue and Hoadley Terrace for several hours, police said.

There is no danger to anyone, and there have been no evacuations.

Police urged drivers to avoid the area Friday night.
