A 4-year-old girl was killed and a five-month-old baby, 8-year-old boy and five adults were injured when an SUV carrying eight people crashed on Interstate 91 northbound in New Haven on Saturday night.
Ross Randon Stanley, 26, of New Haven, was driving a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer SUV in the northbound direction on I-91 when he veered right and hit the concrete barrier along the right side of the highway, state police said. The collision caused the car to spin out across the highway, coming to rest facing east in the left and left center lanes, according to state police.
Two of the three children in the car were thrown from the SUV. Stanley's daughter, Kamorah Stanley, 4, of West Haven, died in the crash that happened close to 9:10 p.m. Saturday.
Other family members were in the SUV, including Kamorah’s mother, grandmother, and her two brothers, ages eight and 5 months old and two other people.
Stanley and his six other passengers -- Kamorah's mother, Rayna B. Green, 28, of West Haven, her brother, 5-month-old Stanley Rojas, of West Haven, Kamorah's brother, Ross Stanley Jr., 8, of West Haven, Tracy L. Wearing, 25, of New Haven, Natalya Land, 26, of New Haven, and Kamorah's grandmother, Veronica L. Green, 46, of West Haven, -- sustained minor injuries. Rayna Green lives with Stanley Rojas, Stanley Ross Jr. and Veronica Green. Most of the people involved in the crash are family.
Ambulances took the driver and passengers to Yale-New Haven Hospital and The Hospital of Saint Raphael. Kamorah Stanley was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Kamorah's great uncle Michael Green said the family is going to miss her and that they're "torn apart" over the tragedy and don't want to believe she's gone.

"We’re torn apart. I mean she’s the youngest girl of the family and you know, we wanted to see her go off to school...waiting for the first day of school, you know. That excitement was in her," Green said. "....She was a bright young girl. I mean her life just begun. You know, 4 years old. We’re going to miss her.”
But he expressed gratitude his other family members survived.
“Once the car was out of control anything could have happened, you know what I mean?" Green said. "So, I just thank god that all of them are not gone.”
It's unknown at this time where exactly all of the passengers were sitting in the car at the time of the crash.
The only person known to be wearing a seat belt was Natalya Land.
The fatal accident remains under investigation.
