Girl's Grave Site Vandalized Again

A 9 year-old girl's grave site was vandalized for a second time in just three months.

A Lisbon family is offering a reward for information after their 9 year-old daughter's grave site was vandalized for the second time in just three months.

The resting place of Sandy Smith's daughter, Jenna Lynn, was callously disturbed when vandals struck at Pachaug Cemetery in Griswold late Friday or early Saturday, Smith said.

The family found out when they stopped by to visit and found broken lights, items tossed around and Jenna Lynn's favorite purple piggy bank dumped.

Sandy Smith said the vandals' actions bring fresh pain to the family's loss.

"When it happened last time, it felt the same way (as) this time, like going through losing her again," Sandy Smith said.

The last time vandals struck, 16 grave sites were damaged.

At the time, a cemetery official estimated the loss at more than $5,000.

Sandy, Pachaug cemetery's superintendent, said it appears some of the same sites were targeted.

"Every couple of months, we have to come here and fix stuff that was broken or stolen. It's senseless," Sandy said.

State police are investigating this latest incident.

Jenna's friends and the Smiths are offering a cash reward in hopes someone with information will come forward.
