Solve Your City's Problems With a Click

From nasty potholes to neighborhood graffiti, you might be able to get help for non-emergency problems by logging on to your computer and complaining.

That's the idea behind SeeClickFix.com, created by four New Haven friends.

The idea was born out of frustration in 2007 when, New Haven native Ben Berkowitz was on hold with the city department to complain about a graffiti problem on his street, according to the Hartford Courant

That's when he got the idea that if everyone in the city could see his complaint and how many times he contacted City Hall, perhaps the city would be pressured to respond.

Berkowitz worked with Jeff Blasius, Kam Lasater and Miles Lasater to create a site to publicly document non-emergency issues.  They use Google Maps to create the sites, so once an issue is reported on SeeClickFix, any user can comment on it, add a photo or video to it or explain how it was fixed or resolved.

New Haven isn't the only area benefiting from the program The site has come to the rescue of residents in New Haven and throughout the country.
