On Wednesday, Ned Lamont will be sworn in as governor and he tells NBC Connecticut he’s ready to get to work.
On his last weekend as governor-elect, Ned Lamont hit the road this Sunday.
The Democrat stopped at nonprofits to volunteer and hear how things are going, including at the Beth-El Center in Milford, a homeless shelter and soup kitchen.
“There’s a lot of need. That’s what we’re hearing, right? More people are coming in,” said Lamont.
Lamont’s thoughts are also on the road ahead to Hartford.
On Wednesday, he will be sworn in as the state’s 89th governor.
“We’re ready to go. I was so happy that campaign was over. And you’re ready to govern. You’re ready to roll up your sleeves and get to work,” said Lamont.

First up is getting democrats to stick together and to tackle the state budget in the face of multi-billion dollar deficits.
“In terms of other priorities for Democrats this year, potentially tolls, recreational marijuana, higher minimum wage, do you think they’ll all be accomplished this session?” asked NBC Connecticut’s Matt Austin.
“Yeah, these are all a means to an end,” said Lamont.
Lamont says his focus will be the economy, including better job training.
He says it’s going to take working with people of all backgrounds and political stripes for the state to succeed.
“It’s going to be a tough road to hoe. And I need everyone, as I’ve said, at the table to get us through this so the next four years are not defined by a fiscal crisis but they’re defined by a state that’s on the go, on the move,” said Lamont.
