Greenwich Stolen Car Case Ends in Chase and Crash in Hartford

A man driving a car stolen from Greenwich has been arrested after leading police on a chase, ramming a state police cruiser, crashing in Hartford and running from police as they were trying to take him to court, according to police.

A state trooper fired a gun during the pursuit, but the suspect was not hit, according to police.

State police got involved in the investigation and pursuit around 11 p.m., when Greenwich police reached out to them to report that a 2003 Honda had been stolen, the victim’s cell phone was in it and the vehicle was in the area of Interstate 84 West near exit 47 in Hartford.

Troopers responded to the area and tried to stop the car on the exit 47 off-ramp, but the driver refused to stop and intentionally rammed a state police cruiser, according to state police.

At least one trooper was outside of his cruiser and shot his duty firearm at the suspect, but the suspect was not hit and kept going until he got to Sigourney Street in Hartford and crashed at the Park Street intersection, police said.

The suspect, Kevin Feliciano, 22, of Hartford, was not injured, but two state troopers were transported to the hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries. They have been released.

Central District Major Crime detectives responded to the scene and will investigate the state trooper firing his weapon.

Police took Feliciano into custody and held him on bond prior to his court appearance, but he fled from police and stripped out of the orange jumpsuit he was in, police said. He was captured around an hour later. Police found him hiding under a porch, wearing only boxer shorts and hospital shoes.

The I-84 west exit 47 off-ramp was closed as police investigated and during the investigation.

Feliciano was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree larceny for motor vehicle theft, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree assault, assault on a public safety person, reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit, failure to drive upon right, unsafe backing, failure to obey control signal and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Bond was set at$250,000.
