Hail of a Storm Damages Cars at Dealership

Wednesday’s storm may be gone, but one car dealership is still dealing with some lingering effects.  Hail, the size of quarters left a pattern of dings and even cracked windshields at Schaller Honda in New Britain.

The storm left dozens of dents on the hoods, rooftops and window frames on dozens of cars.  It was all caught on the dealership’s surveillance video.

“The first 20 cars we looked at had some dings on them.  Our next call was to the insurance company,” said Art Schaller, owner of Schaller Auto.

It’s a new problem for the 57-year-old dealership and a new problem for many customers who left their cars at the dealership repair shop overnight.

“A Schaller employee called me up and told me she has some bad news for me.  She said hail damaged some cars on the lot and yours was one of them,” said Chris Chanbunna, of New Britain.

Schaller says despite the damage, there could be a silver lining to the hail storm clouds.

“These storms often result in a tremendous opportunity for the public to buy new cards with full warranties at prices well below the market,” Schaller said.
