Hamden Car Dealership Employee Accused of Embezzlement

The finance manager of a Hamden car dealership is accused of stealing $80,000 from the company.

Officers responded to Partyka Chevrolet, at 200 Skiff St., in Hamden on Nov. 7 to investigate a report of embezzlement and police said the finance manager, 34-year-old Jevene Wright, of Bridgeport, is accused of stealing around $80,000 from the dealership.

Customers provided Wright with cash or personal checks to make purchases and Wright instructed them to leave the “pay to the order” part of their checks blank, according to Hamden police, then he would fill in his name and deposit the proceeds into his personal bank account.

On April 23, police arrested Wright at Meriden Superior Court. He was charged with larceny in the first degree.

He worked at the dealership for a couple of months and his employment was terminated, according to staff from the dealership.
