Hamden Police Release Photos of Vehicle Involved in Hit-and-Run

A 51-year-old Hamden woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Dixwell Avenue Sunday, and police have released surveillance footage of the suspect vehicle.

Officers said Melissa Reddick was crossing Dixwell Avenue near Morse Street shortly before 2 a.m. when she was hit by an SUV in the right, northbound travel lane. She was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital and died of her injuries.

The SUV did not stop after it hit the woman and continued northbound on Dixwell Avenue, according to police.

Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is a tan/champagne colored full-sized SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMV Yukon or Cadillac Escalade. Police say the vehicle should have front-end damage on the passenger side. The vehicle appears to have amber running lights above the front windshield, chrome rims, and tinted windows.

Some vehicle debris was also found at the scene.

Any witnesses to the accident should call police at 203-230-4036.
