Hamden Police Search for Driver Who Struck Disabled Woman

Police are searching for the man who struck a disabled woman while driving on State Street in Hamden, then fled the scene.

According to police, a 47-year-old disabled resident was crossing the street Friday morning when she was hit by a Nissan traveling through the area.

The victim suffered a fractured vertebra and several cuts, police said. She was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment.

Police said the driver, a man, got out of the car and spoke briefly with the victim, then drove off.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver and said the victim couldn’t provide any additional information about him.
