Hammer Attack Victim Relieved

"I think it's wonderful he's in jail. I want proof," Josephine Lavallee said.

The man suspected of attacking three people with a hammer on Dec. 29 in New Britain is now in custody in Canada, which brings relief for the people is is accused of assaulting.

Randy Breton, 41, will face a judge in Canada on Jan. 10. He's charged there with illegally entering Canada.

Breton called his father with a cell phone from Canada, according to one of his victims, so that's how police knew he was north of the border.

"I'm up all night thinking he's gonna kill me and my kids," said Josephine Lavallee, Breton's ex-girlfriend.  "I think it's wonderful he's in jail. I want proof."

Asked what she would tell the Canadian judge considering sending Breton back to New Britain, Lavallee said, "I would tell him I want him in jail. I want him sent here. I want him in jail. I want justice."

She has staples in her head because of the attack.

Breton is accused of assaulting her, her 16-year-old daughter and 18-year-old Sean Logan.

Doctors had to replace part of Logan's fractured skull with titanium mesh, but his recovery is much faster than was first expected.

The neighbor who lives upstairs from the scene of the crime at 421 Columbus Boulevard said the arrest of Breton brings relief.

"I get out of work, I have to have my husband downstairs cuz it's so dark out back. It's pretty scary.  Now, I feel like my kids, my family, will be safe," Gloria Quinones said.
