Harry Connick Jr. Writes Song About Newtown Girl

Harry Connick Jr. has written a song in honor of a little girl who was killed in the shooting at Sandy Hook School and the proceeds will go to a foundation set up in her name.

Ana Marquez-Greene was only 6-and-a-half years old when she was killed in the rampage inside the Newtown school shooting.

The tragedy shook people across the state of Connecticut and beyond.

For Connick, what happened was personal. Ana’s father, Jimmy Greene, is a saxophonist and a long-time friend and band member of Harry Connick Jr.

When the funeral service for Ana was held, Connick performed.

On Tuesday, Connick’s song in memory of Ana, “Love Wins,” will be available for download.

“i hope that everyone will be able to download the song... ana grace used to say 'love wins' - and you know what? it always does!” Connick posted on his Facebook page on Saturday.

“Love Wins” has become the mantra for Jimmy Greene, his wife Nelba Marquez-Greene and their family.

Connick said 100 percent of the proceeds of the song will go to the Ana Grace Fund to help her family get through this difficult time.
