Hartford Fire Department Called After Pepper Spray Discharges on School Bus

The Hartford fire department was called Monday afternoon after pepper spray went off in a school bus, according to police officers on scene.

The incident occured on on school bus on South Marshall Street. Police said the discharge was accidental and no one was injured.

Hartford Public Schools spokesman Pedro Zayas said it is against the district's rules for students to possess pepper spray and the issue will be handled internally.

The students, who attend the Renzulli Academy, were taken off the bus and loaded on to a new one.
