Hartford Man Accused of Assaulting Girlfriend

Police said Luis Rosa, 41, of Hartford, punched his girlfriend and pulled a knife.

Vernon police have arrested a Hartford man accused of assaulting his girlfriend and pulling a knife on her.

Luis Rosa, 41, of Hartford, is accused of choking the victim, punching her in the eyes and mouth, over and over again, and taking out a knife, police said.

The victim grabbed a kitchen knife to ward him off, police said.

Police said Rosa used his key to get into his girlfriend’s apartment as her three children were sleeping and attacked her in her bedroom.

Police took Rosa into custody at his Hartford apartment just before 1 a.m. on Thursday.

He was charged with third-degree assault, home invasion with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, three counts of risk of injury to a child and additional charges.

Bond was set at $100,000.
