The man who was pulled from the Farmington River on Sunday afternoon died upon arrival at St. Francis Hospital.
Police have identified the man as Omar Gonzalez, 29, of Hartford and said he was killed in and accidental drowning.
Farmington Police and Fire/Rescue units responded at 1:23 p.m. on Sunday to reports of a swimmer in distress on the Farmington River near Woewassa Lane.
Witnesses reported observing the man going under the water.
Crews found Gonzalez in about 7 feet of water.
