Police Said They Seized Car Involved in Fatal Hartford Hit-and-Run

A 47-year-old woman who was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Hartford Wednesday night has died, according to police, who said they seized the car. 

The woman, Chante Tucker, of Hartford, was struck in the area of Albany Avenue and Garden Street at 10:47 p.m. and she was rushed to St. Francis Hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. 

She was listed in critical condition and police said Thursday morning that she was pronounced dead at 8:35 a.m. 

Detectives have been searching for a white four-door sedan, possibly a 2008 to 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, and said Thursday afternoon that they seized the car,

The intersection was closed for several hours and reopened just before 5 a.m. Thursday.

Editor’s note: Police originally said Wednesday night that the crash was fatal, then said the woman has life-threatening injuries. On Thursday morning, they said Tucker died at 8:35 a.m.
