Hartford Police Seize Thousands of Bags of Heroin, Make 11 Arrests

Hartford police arrested 11 people in a "large scale heroin trafficking operation" on Thursday, police said.

Hartford Police Department's Special Operations Group, Shooting Task Force, K-9 Unit and Emergency Response Team, Homeland Security Investigations Unit and Security Air Wing, Drug Enforcement Administration officials and the North Central Emergency Response Team worked together to execute search and arrest warrants at 2495 and 2505 Main Street in Hartford at 6:21 p.m. on Thursday.

At those addresses, police seized 2,964 bags of heroin, 92 bags of cocaine, 1.72 ounces of marijuana and $14,059 in suspected drug money.

After utilizing controlled purchases, surveillance and electronic monitoring in the investigation, police arrested the following 11 people at those locations.

  • John Colon, 24,  of 1630 Main Street,  Hartford; charges: possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory and interfering with police; he got three arrest warrant on charges of the sale of narcotics.
     
  • Joshua Stracham, 23, of 19 Benton Street, Hartford; charges: possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory and interfering with police; three arrest warrants on charges of sale of narcotics.
     
  • Matthew Rodriguez, 27, of 147 Flatbush Avenue, Hartford; charges: possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory and interfering with police; one arrest warrant on charges of sale of narcotics.
     
  • Hector Navedo, 24, of 515 Franklin Avenue, Hartford; charges: possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory and interfering with police.
     
  • Rafael Martinez, 23, of 34 Otis Street Hartford; charges: possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory and interfering with police.
     
  • Brandon Broughton, 23, of 32 Sanford Street, Hartford; charges: possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory and interfering with police.
     
  • Jermaine Jenkins, 24, of 1588 Albany Ave., Hartford; charges: possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory and interfering with police.
     
  • Argenis Deleon, 24, of 505 Main Street #1, Hartford; charges:possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory and interfering with police.
     
  • Naomi Alicea, 32, of 2505 Main Street #1, Hartford; charges: interfering with a search warrant and criminal attempt to commit assault on police.
     
  • David Stark DOB, 38, of 27 Chestnut Street, Hartford; charges: third-degree criminal trespass and possession of narcotics.
     
  • Kevin Holmgren, 45, of 89 West Side Boulevard, Burlington; charges: third-degree criminal trespass and possession of narcotics.
