Hartford Yard Goats Host Second Annual Whalers Alumni Weekend

The Hartford Yard Goats are hosting the team's second annual Whalers Alumni Weekend this weekend at Dunkin' Donuts Park.

"From the start, the Yard Goats have always recognized the important part the Whalers played in Hartford's sports scene," team president Tim Restall said. "With the Yard Goats hosting the Whalers Alumni Weekend, it allows our fans to see some great players, and for the players to catch up with some old teammates. We treat this weekend like a family reunion."

Before Saturday night's game, the team hosted a luncehon at the ballpark featuring a number of former Whalers, including Dave Babych, Chuck Kaiton, Mark Janssens, Bob Crawford and Blaine Stoughton.

At Saturday's 6:05 p.m. game, fans can arrive when the gates open and get autographs from a number of former Whalers on the concourse.

NBC Connecticut New Haven Reporter Justin Schecker will be throwing out the first pitch at tonight's game.

Following the game, fans will be able to stay and enjoy post-game fireworks from Atlas.

Tomorrow's game starts at 5:05 p.m. and the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a free Whalers Alumni weekend hockey puck.  Kids will also be able to participate in a post-game run of the bases.

This weekend's games are against the rival New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
