5 Hurt After Bus-Involved Crash on I-84 West in Vernon-Manchester Area

Five people were transported after a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 near the Vernon-Manchester line Wednesday afternoon.

Connecticut State Police said a 29-year-old Wethersfield man driving a Ford Ranger lost control near exit 63 just after 3 p.m. and collided with a GMC Acadia.

The impact pushed the Acadia into the high-occupancy vehicle lane, where it collided with a Lucky Star bus that had at least 13 people onboard, according to a report from state police.

Five people were transported to be treated for minor injuries, according to state police.

The three vehicles were towed away and the driver of the Ford Ranger was cited for misuse of marker plates, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and failure to drive in a proper lane, state police said. He was released on a promise to appear and is due in Manchester Superior Court on Dec. 17.

There were lane closures and delays in the area through the evening rush hour Wednesday.
