Help Wanted: Must Be Willing to Commute 600 Miles

Ohio Plant Looking for Skilled Connecticut Tradesmen

A central Ohio manufacturing company needs a few good toolmakers, and it is looking for them in Connecticut.

Anomatic Corp., of Newark, Ohio, a company that makes anodized aluminum packaging for the personal care, cosmetic and fragrance industries, is looking for "two or three" eyelet toolmakers willing to relocate to central Ohio.

The toolmakers are needed to design tooling to make very small and precise aluminum parts used in making cosmetic industry packaging.

Anomatic, which placed help wanted ads in the Waterbury Republican-American last week, has a 132,000-square foot plant in Newark, about 30 miles east of Columbus. The work force includes "seven or eight" toolmakers, several of whom are former Connecticut residents successfully recruited to the Midwest in the past few years.

The company was so impressed with the quality of Connecticut toolmakers that it opened a small plant in Naugatuck last year to take better advantage of the talented local labor pool. The Anomatic CT plant employs five toolmakers in the Naugatuck
Industrial Park.
