Home Cam is Gem of Jewel Theft Nabber

Jewelry store thefts in Norwalk and Greenwich may be connected.

When the owner of a Norwalk jewelry store’s not there, he can keep an eye on his swanky shop from a home-monitoring system. Because of that system, and the owner’s quick thinking, cops nabbed three suspected jewel thieves.

On Saturday, Ben Roseman was at home when an alarm went off, Greenwich Time  reports. At first, he thought it was a false alarm, but then the second alarm went off. So, Roseman checked his home computer and saw three men inside his store, David Harvey Jewelers, Norwalk Police told the newspaper.

He called police, who apprehended three men in a black SUV with New Jersey plates.

All three are being held on $250,000 bond and have been charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree larceny, third-degree burglary and first degree-criminal trespass.

The arrest came just two days after a nighttime jewelry store burglary in Greenwich at Farah Shanal, where up to $500,000 in valuables were stolen. Police are checking to see if there is a connection.
