Scrambling for the “Real World”

Dozens of reality show hopefuls headed to Hartford Saturday to audition for the 23rd season of "The Real World."

Casting directors for the long-running MTV hit held an open casting call at the Black Bear Saloon on Allyn Street.

Applicants had to be between 18 and 25 and were told to bring a recent picture and photo ID.

Jessica Heallah drove the two hours from Revere, Mass. for the chance to star on the show.

"I need to get away from my husband," Heallah said. "He was actually the one that suggested I go on this show."

The location for the 23rd season hasn't been named. The shooting of the 22nd season is underway in Cancun, Mexico and will be broadcast later this year.

"The Real World" has never been set in Connecticut.

The last noteworthy "Real World" cast member from Connecticut was Paula Meronek of Meriden, who starred in the 17th season in Key West, Florida.

If you missed the open casting call, but still think you've got what it takes, you can send your request to be considered by going to the producer's website at www.bunim-murray.com.
