Our latest app update allows you to select the categories of news alerts you want to get from NBC Connecticut on your device. We’ve included topics that matter most to you, based on your feedback.
You can select from Breaking News, General News, Programming Alerts, Traffic Updates, Sports News and Entertainment News.
To personalize your notifications, first check "Allow Notifications” when you download the new app. Click on the hamburger menu in the top left and then hit the gear icon on the top right in the app. On iOS devices, select Alert Settings under Notifications. On Android devices, select Alert Settings under Alerts.
The news alert categories will automatically be ON if you allowed notifications on your device. Make your selections by toggling the blue button off or on next to each topic.
Breaking News will give you alerts about the latest and most urgent stories of the day in your region, U.S. and the world.
News alerts are for non-urgent stories about important topics and issues.
Programming alerts will let you know about special programming on NBC CT and in our app.
Local
Traffic alerts will keep you posted about incidents or delays that will impact your commute.
Sports news will keep you up to date on the latest involving UConn, the Yard Goats, high school and college teams, your favorite pro teams and other big sports news.
Entertainment alerts will keep you posted on the latest news from Hollywood and the entertainment industry.
If you don’t see these options in the app settings, make sure you have version 5.8 or later on your device.
