The tenth edition of the NBC Connecticut Health and Wellness Festival at the XL Center brought out hundreds of residents Sunday morning.

There was a line through the lobby of people waiting to get their free flu shots from ProHealth Physicians. The first 500 adults over the age of 18 received them, and they were once again one of the most popular elements of the festival.

The Family 5K, in its second year, brought out more than a hundred runners in a pair of heats to the concourse of the XL Center for the 16 lap race.

Participants like Landon Mansfield, who's nine, said the race was his favorite part of the festival. "It's really fun," he said, with his medal hanging around his neck.

Saint Francis provided examples of its Integrated Medicine Techniques like acupuncture and hand massages.

Access Health Connecticut met with prospective health insurance customers, and let them know the online marketplace is a good place to start looking for coverage when open enrollment starts next month under the Federal Healthcare law.

The NBC Connecticut Clear the Shelters initiative was also on full display with about 15 dogs up for adoption.

The festival kicked off at 10 a.m. and ran until 5 p.m.
