I-84 West in West Hartford was closed for hours after a drunk driver caused an accident.
State police responded to an accident in the area of Exit 42 on I 84 West in West Hartford around 9 a.m. Thursday morning.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Hiran Lopez, 32, of New Britain, lost control of the car and struck a guardrail. Both he and a male passenger were ejected from the car and transported to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries. A third passenger was not injured.
Lopez was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs and operating a motor vehcile under suspension. He is being help on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
The accident remains under investigation.
