Freezing rain falling across parts of the state has iced up trees and power lines in places, leading to thousands of power outages.
Eversource was reporting nearly 22,000 outages statewide. A line of towns through central Connecticut seemed to be most affected Sunday morning. Middletown, Meriden, Cheshire, Bethany, Monroe, and Newtown were just some of the towns experiencing outages.
United Illuminating says nearly 6,200 of its customers are in the dark. Hamden and New Haven seem to be affected the most. At one point, almost 9,000 customers were without power.
Governor Ned Lamont reminds residents to keep their cell phones fully charged during the outages in case they need to contact emergency services.
