An illegally parked car helped lead to a narcotics arrest in Shelton, police said.

On Tuesday, undercover detectives saw Joshua Sanchez's car blocked in by an illegally parked van while he was attempting to pull out of an apartment building parking lot, Shelton Police said.

Sanchez, who was an outstanding warrant for his arrest, went to look for the driver on foot when police observed him talking to another man up the street, police said.

The 25-year-old, of Shelton, was stopped by officers and taken into custody on his outstanding warrants, police said.

Police also determined Justin Geffert, 26, had just purchased heroin from Sanchez.

Both heroin and crack-cocaine was found in the car Sanchez was driving, police said.

Sanchez was charged with illegal possession and illegal possession with intent to sell with his bond set at $10,000. He was turned over to Ansonia Police for an outstanding warrant.

Geffert was charged with illegal possession and possession of drug paraphernalia with his bond set at $1,000. He is expected to appear in court on Aug. 10.
