Cops Charge Nephew in Connection With Kitties' Deaths

A Windham man was supposed to be taking care of his aunt’s pregnant cat and two other animals while she was away, but five kittens are dead and he’s been charged.

Joseph Anastasio, 33, tells police that a dog got into the room of the Clinton home where the pregnant cat had her kittens and bit them, the New Haven Register reports.

So, Anastasio told police, he put the five kittens’ bodies in a litterbag and tossed them in the trash, reports the Register.
But evidence indicates the kittens were alive when he put them in the bag.

The cats had puncture wounds, police told the newspaper, but they “could not be identified as caused by a canine,” the Register reports. What makes the incident even more grisly is the litter found in the kitties mouths, which cops said indicates they ingested it while they were alive.

Anastasio was charged with five counts of animal cruelty.
