She brought her wedding and engagement rings to the store to be fixed but she never got them back, so a Barkhamsted woman is suing Kay Jewelers in Canton over the loss.
The lawsuit states that Sharon Foxx brought her rings to the store around May 15, 2009, to have a ruby replaced and to resize the rings and was told they would be ready 12 days later, The Register Citizen reports.
On May 27, Foxx received a call and was told that her rings had been lost en route to the repair facility, The Register Citizen reports. "The way they put it was `My ring was gone,'" Foxx said. "They didn't say it was stolen, they didn't say anything other than my ring was gone. They didn't seem a bit empathetic. It was just cold."
The lawsuit also state that Foxx provided the store with an appraisal of the rings, valuing them at $4,560 plus tax.
"They said bring in an estimate... luckily I had an estimate (that described the rings). They said they would duplicate that, but nothing."
Foxx is suing the store for a total of $15,000 in compensatory and punitive damages, attorney fees, citing "severe mental, emotional and psychological pain, suffering and distress" in the lawsuit.
Foxx says the problem was escalated by the amount of time it took to get answers from the company. "They kept saying we're working on it," she said. "They didn't contact me. I had to contact them throughout the past year, and I just can't imagine a company doing business like that."
"At this point, the value of my ring far surpasses anything that they could materially give me," said Foxx.
