A federal judge says she plans to reject former Gov. John G. Rowland's request for a new trial and will hold a sentencing hearing on March 18.
Tom Carson, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office, says U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton informed prosecutors and defense attorneys of her decision during a conference call Monday afternoon.
Details of the call were first reported Tuesday in The Hartford Courant, which obtained a transcript.
Rowland was convicted in September of seven counts, most relating to allegations that he conspired to hide payments for work he did on the 2012 congressional campaign of Lisa Wilson-Foley.
His lawyer had asked for a hearing to determine if prosecutors withheld key statements from Wilson-Foley.
The judge declined, calling the allegations of wrongdoing unsupported speculation.
