Jury Selection Begins for Man Accused of Driving With Dead Girlfriend

Maurice Francis, 31, is charged with stabbing Tashima Reddick, 29, to death in November 2008.

Jury selection is set to begin on Monday in the murder case of a Hartford man accused of killing his girlfriend and driving around with her body in the front passenger seat of his car.

Maurice Francis, 31, is charged with stabbing Tashima Reddick, 29, to death in November 2008.

Witnesses told police they saw a man dragging a body across a street and placing it in a car, which was later left at an auto body shop with a body inside.

The prosecution and defense are scheduled to start picking jurors on Monday in Hartford Superior Court.

Francis' lawyer, public defender William O'Connor, said his client denies the allegations. Francis had been ruled not competent to stand trial, but was later deemed competent after mental health treatment.
