Lacing It Up So Students Can Get to the Dance

Get ready to lace up your sneakers this Halloween - and help students at the same time.

The poor economy is putting a damper on senior year rites of passage and that's why two teachers at Seymour High School are stepping in.

According to the Register, teachers Chris Pagliaro and Heather Brown decided to organize The Wildcat Welcome Back 5K Run/Walk.  "Over the past year, with the economic downturn, there have been a number of students with difficulty meeting the financial needs within this school, and just the normal high school events," Pagliaro said.

Many have been missing out on the big dance just because they simply couldn't afford it.

The run/walk is scheduled for Halloween morning at the high school.  It all starts at 8:30am.  Trophies will be handed out and since its Halloween, a costume contest will take place, too.

Pagliaro said his goal is to get as many Seymour High School alumni involved in the event as possible, with special recognition going to the alumni class with the most participants.
