Lamont to Participate in Hartford Women's March

Connecticut's new Democratic governor, Ned Lamont, will attend the Women's March Hartford event with his wife Annie and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz.

The march kicks off Saturday at noon on the north side of the state Capitol, marking the two-year anniversary of the movement's launch.

It comes on the heels of Lamont establishing a new Governor's Council on Women and Girls, to provide a coordinated state response to issues that affect women, girls, their families and the state. Bysiewicz will chair the council, which will be housed within the governor's office.

The council will include heads of each state agency, constitutional officers and legislative caucus representatives. The group will focus on issues including economic opportunity and workforce equity, as well as education, health and safety.
